To the barren:
He gives the barren woman a home,
making her the joyous mother of children. Praise the LORD!
To those dying:
Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.
To the brokenhearted:
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
To the widows:
Fear not, for you will not be ashamed; be not confounded, for you
will not be disgraced; for you will forget the shame of your youth,
and the reproach of your widowhood you will remember no more.
For your Maker is your husband, the LORD of hosts is his name;
and the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer,
the God of the whole earth he is called.
To those unable to marry:
I will give in my house and within my walls a monument
and a name better than sons and daughters;
I will give them an everlasting name that shall not be cut off.
“Because of the iniquity of his unjust gain I was angry, I struck him;
I hid my face and was angry, but he went on backsliding in the way
of his own heart. I have seen his ways, but I will heal him;
I will lead him and restore comfort to him and his mourners,
creating the fruit of the lips. Peace, peace, to the far
and to the near,” says the LORD, “and I will heal him.”
To those who show mercy:
If you pour yourself out for the hungry
and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in
the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday.
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.
And whoever gives one of these little ones even a cup of cold
water because he is a disciple, truly, I say to you,
he will by no means lose his reward.
To those who give their lives away:
Whoever finds his life will lose it,
and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
To the bruised and those ready to quit:
A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick
he will not quench, until he brings justice to victory.
To those in the midst of church discipline:
Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth
about anything they ask,
it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.
For where two or three are gathered in my name,
there am I among them.
To those who sacrifice much for Christ:
And everyone who has left houses
or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands,
for my name’s sake, will receive a hundredfold
and will inherit eternal life.
To faithful servants:
Who then is the faithful and wise servant,
whom his master has set over his household,
to give them their food at the proper time?
Blessed is that servant
whom his master will find so doing when he comes.
Truly, I say to you, he will set him over all his possessions.
Jesus will enable us to win others:
And Jesus said to them,
“Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men.”
“The kingdom of God is
as if a man should scatter seed on the ground.
He sleeps and rises night and day,
and the seed sprouts and grows; he knows not how.
The earth produces by itself, first the blade, then the ear,
then the full grain in the ear. But when the grain is ripe,
at once he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.”
To those who show practical love to believers:
For truly, I say to you, whoever gives you a cup of water to drink
because you belong to Christ will by no means lose his reward.
To diligent disciples:
A disciple is not above his teacher,
but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher.
To those who live for eternal things:
Do not labor for the food that perishes,
but for the food that endures to eternal life,
which the Son of Man will give to you.
For on him God the Father has set his seal.
Power to live through Christ:
For if, because of one man’s trespass,
death reigned through that one man,
much more will those who receive the abundance of grace
and the free gift of righteousness
reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ.
The purpose of the body (1) to glorify God:
The body is not meant for sexual immorality,
but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.
1 Corinthians 6:13
Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ?
1 Corinthians 6:15
Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit
within you, whom you have from God?
You are not your own, for you were bought with a price.
So glorify God in your body.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
The purpose of the body (2) resurrection power:
It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory.
It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power.
It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body.
If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.
1 Corinthians 15:43-44
Behold! I tell you a mystery.
We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed.
1 Corinthians 15:51
The purpose of the body (3) to display Jesus:
Always carrying in the body the death of Jesus,
so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies.
2 Corinthians 4:10
God will finish what he starts in us:
And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you
will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
It is a privilege to suffer for Christ:
For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ
you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake.
To those who serve well as deacons:
For those who serve well as deacons
gain a good standing for themselves
and also great confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus.
1 Timothy 3:13
God’s provision of angels to serve us:
Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve
for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?
Perseverance — the mark of every true believer:
For we have come to share in Christ,
if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end.
God will reward all who serve the church:
For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that
you have shown for his name in serving the saints, as you still do.
The blessing of helping those who wander:
My brothers, if anyone among you wanders from the truth
and someone brings him back, let him know that
whoever brings back a sinner from his wandering
will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.
The reward of overcoming sin:
He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
The one who conquers will not be hurt by the second death.
The one who conquers and who keeps my works until the end,
to him I will give authority over the nations.
